BMW_BimmerTool Expert_v3.3.25
mportant: This application requires a reliable OBD adapter like Carista. Cheap adapters may not work or functionality is limited.
The application allows reading/deleting fault codes and displaying live data in BMW 1/3/5 E/F series and similar models.
It offers all functionalities of the Lite version and additionally allows:
- Read DPF regeneration status and detailed information.
- request DPF regeneration
- Reset DPF adjustment values (required after filter change)
- read exhaust gas pressure
- read the settings of the injectors
- Read actual and expected values for air mass, intake manifold pressure and fuel pressure
- logging of the data in a CSV file for further analysis
- Registration of battery change (without changing battery characteristics)
- resetting of lamps blocked due to a short circuit
- Resetting of oil service or oil change interval (for vehicles up to mid-2007, a K+D can cable is required)
Supported OBD adapters
- K+D-Can USB: This is the recommended and most reliable adapter. You will also need a USB OTG cable.
- ELM327 Bluetooth: The Bluetooth connection may be slower than the USB connection. Only true ELM327 or PIC18 based adapters will work. They may not work with older engines. More information below.
- ELM327 WiFi: Like ELM, the Bluetooth connection may be less stable. On some devices, mobile data transmission must be disabled to use the WiFi adapter.
Recommended Bluetooth adapters:
- Carista: see https://caristaapp.com/adapter
The application also works with BMW E60, E83*, E81, E87, F10, F30, F25 and with M47N/M57N (DDE5) engines in E46/E39 models.
Older engines like M47 DDE3, M57 DDE4 or M54 MS43 will also work, but only with K+DCan cable.

*Quick start
1) Connect the adapter to the OBD II socket.
2) Turn on the ignition
3) Connect the adapter to your cell phone:
* USB: Connect the adapter to the phone via USB OTG cable. Phone will ask which app to launch - select Btool.
* Bluetooth: Go to the Bluetooth settings of your phone. Search for Bluetooth devices and pair adapter with phone (PIN is usually 0000 or 1234).
* Wifi: Turn off mobile data transmission. Turn on WiFi and search for available WiFi networks. Connect the phone to the WiFi of the adapter.
4) Launch the app, go to "Car" and select model and year.
5) Go to "Connection" and select connection type, adapter type and communication protocol.
6) Tap the "Connect" button.
*Limitations:
- Rain sensor reset requires K+DCan cable for cars up to 2007, it will not work with ELM adapter.
- X3 E83 with M47/57 and ELM adapter only supports the engine. For other modules use K+DCan cable.
- X5 E83 may not work with Bluetooth adapter. USB K+DCan cable may be required.
*Common problems
- Error engine 'No response' on vehicles up to 2007 and BT/Wifi adapter. If this error occurs from time to time, try selecting ATWM under advanced connection settings.
- No connection: If the adapter and protocol settings are correct and the app still cannot connect to the vehicle, try closing all diagnostic apps in the application manager (including btool) and try to connect again.
