MULTIMEDIA (HEAD UNIT) TYPE
- Hardware: MGU2 (Media Graphic Unit 2) with the Live Cockpit Plus or Live Cockpit Professional options.
- Operating system version: BMW Operating System 8 (iDrive 8) and BMW Operating System 8.5 (iDrive 8.5).

ATTENTION:
JOY series maps are not compatible with the first generation of MGUs (iDrive 7, which requires LIVE maps), or with any older systems—NBT EVO (EVO maps), EntryNav2 (WAY maps), NBT (NEXT), or CIC (PREMIUM).

SUPPORTED BMW MODELS
iDrive 8/8.5 and JOY maps are installed as standard on new body styles and facelifted (LCI) models produced from the end of 2021-2022:
- 2 Series: Active Tourer (U06), Coupe (G42 LCI)
- 3 Series: G20 / G21 LCI (facelift since 2022)
- 4 Series / i4: G22 / G23 / G26 (including Gran Coupe and i4)
- 5 Series / i5: G60 / G61 (new generation since 2023)
- 7 Series / i7: G70 (since 2022)
- X1 / iX1: U11 (since 2022)
- X5 / X6: G05 LCI / G06 LCI (facelift since 2023)
- X7: G07 LCI (facelift since 2022)
- iX: I20
- XM: G09

What's new:
Road network update: New road sections, junctions, and bridges have been added, and changes in traffic directions and road closures have been taken into account.
POI (points of interest) database update: Extensive addition of new charging stations for electric vehicles and hybrids (critical for the new systems on iDrive 8/8.5), as well as new parking lots, gas stations, hotels, and restaurants.
Speed limit refinement: Updated data for road sign recognition systems and driving assistants (Speed Limit Info).
Routing optimization: Improved route calculation algorithms, especially for the e-routing function (long-distance planning with charging stops for "i" models).
Addresses and graphics: Address database update (including new residential complexes) and refinement of 3D building models in major European cities.
